Over the last week I have used the D3 less, due to being off work, on a couple of mornings when I have got to the bottom of our road, the clutch has taken it's time to disengage even though my foot was hard down to the floor.
The first occasion I shot across the road. Its fine when warm, gears seem ok, no difficultly changing.
Is this a known problem, or just my bad luck.

There is a TSB out for the clutch not being up to the job and the need for a heavy duty jobbie being needed....
Mine goes into the stealer tomorrow for a 30k service and i'm getting them to look at the clutch as i think mine is on it's way out, as 1st and reverse is getting very difficult to engage regardless of time/day

TSB on the matter
TSB 308-001
A customer may report a concern of one or more of the following symptoms:
This bulletin has been re-issued to include a closing VIN.
Strong odors from under vehicle when, or after, a slow speed maneuver (e.g. difficult parking maneuver), especially when on gradients.
Clutch slip.
The clutch pedal has stuck in the downward position or not releasing fully.
Difficulty in engaging gears.
Cause: The clutch drive plate lining material is not tolerant to high heat inputs caused by slipping, becomes soft and is then damaged beyond recovery even when it has cooled.
Action: Should a customer express concern regarding the above, refer to the Service Procedure detailed in this bulletin to renew the clutch assembly.
Manual transmission vehicles only VIN-range: 5A300394-7A422271
not exactly my problem, but I'll check the vin tomorrow. If within the range if may help my cause when the sealers have a look.
Thanks for the info.

Mine had the upgraded clutch over a year ago, and on very cold mornings, on the first clutch depression, it still doesnt fully disengage. Dealer doesnt know how to fix it.

Shiny Moose just a Quick update my info was a little wrong there isn`t a TSB on the subjuct but it does seem my local dealer is aware of a problem with hard to engage 1st and reverse especialy first thing so it is proberbly best to let a dealer look at it .Please let us know what they say.
Will do - cheers

Glad I found this thread! I also have the 1st/Reverse problem and the 'box generally doesn't feel as smooth to operate as it should. I put it down to the vehicle being stood on the stealers forecourt for a bit but its not getting any better. IMO its the clutch dragging so on the phone to scrapstone in the morning!!!

Not phoned the sealers yet, but got into the habit the last few days of operating the clutch 6-7 times before starting, - seems much better - strange

That sounds like the slave cylinder - which can also be replaced as part of the clutch issue TSB.
I had no problems when I took mine in to the dealer - they tried to engage 1st then reverse a few times and couldn't do it smoothly without de-clutching. They replaced the clutch assy, slave cylinder and gear position sensor under warranty. Some say the glass is half full. Others that it is half empty. I say 'Are you drinking that?"
