Dealer told me LR will hange the wheel but not the airbag cover.
There is no TSB number for the steering wheel though. However it is a known issue, LR have changed the leather on all new wheels so they are aware the old smooth leather had problems.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

caver - I'll see if it's down to the dealer or LR policy for the airbag cover, but my dealer is good and I usually get my way with them Previously:

Hmmm, not much luck today as I took it to the dealer, who took some pictures of the wheel etc, but when they spoke to LR Customer Services they refused to authorise the work as they couldn't find any record of the service history for the first 2 years! This has me off immensely, as (a) the sticky steering wheel leather, curling air bag cover, and self lowering seat base are nothing to do with the service routine, and (b) of course it was serviced during the first 2 years but for some reason the dealer it was serviced by seems to have lost the records of it (and I don't have the book ). I'll pursue this tomorrow as I suspect there was a 'communication problem' between the 2 dealers, but it's only made me more determined to get this resolved at LR's expense. Even if I can't get proof of the service history, I'm now convinced that, due to design and material deficiencies, these are not issues I should have to pay to rectify out of my own pocket.
Any advice appreciated Previously:

Is it not possible that it had a private reg for the first two years??I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.
Possible - I'll ask the dealer to search under the name of the previous owner and see if that works. Thanks Previously:

Or search under the VINI was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.
Given up trying to get LR to do it under 'goodwill', so fitted an almost new RRS wheel now, with shiny horn buttons and no sticky leather - luxury!
I need a stiff drink after reconnecting the airbag though - felt like a bomb disposal expert! Was tempted to ask SWMBO to plug it in instead, as she wouldn't know what it was

Warrenty, or no warrenty, 'Fit for purpose', springs to mind.
As there is already a replacement 'scheme' for this as it is obviously not fit for purpose.
Warrenty deadlines do not prevent a claim.
Threat of court might get a 'result'. If not, then carry out the threat, costs next to nothing.

was just looking at the pic of your airbag and it looks odd. I can see the lines where the cover actually splits when the airbag goes off. is it just the pic or are RRS bags different

I reckon that it's just a heavy duty airbag.
Designed for the larger proportioned RRS man!

The bag is the one that came with the D3 - I just swapped that over to the new wheel. The light makes it look worse than it is, but I think there is a problem with the airbag covers, as it's kind of curling up at the top and bottom edges. The one fitted to the RRS was £100, but I was feeling too tight to buy that!
Robbed666,
I tried the 'fit for purpose' line with LR but they are proving most unhelpful - even trying to suggest I had subjected the vehicle to arduous use (in Devon, mainly on the road!). I may pursue it, if I can find the time.Previously:

known issue, I've had one replaced and the other is going the same way a few months on .my dealer is aware of this issue and said they haven't come up with a new design yet so if mine knows yours definitely should. I have some pics but cant access the hard drives at the moment
