standard stereo; is there an emergeny eject for CD´s ? |
|
Hi all,
a few days ago i put a both side data (one side a DVD other side a CD) CD obviously with the wrong side down into my standard stereo´s CD tray.
Display said "No valid CD format" or so.
After a few seconds it said "No CD".
With trying to eject the unit still said "No CD".
switching the unit on and off and "shutting down" the car still produces this error.
Does somebody know if there is an electronical or even mechanical trick for removing that CD ?
Search did not deliver results or i used the wrong search phrases.
Thanks a lot in advance
Rgds

Hi,
I guess that you have the 6cd head unit.
For the most part these are very reliable mechs.
Most of the ones that we see for repair are jammed up by one of two things:
either a cd is put in with a sticky label on it (the label peels of in the heat and stick to the CD above)
or
a non standard size CD is inserted.
Many dual format, copy and cheap CDs' are thicker by a few mm. This will stop the mech transfering the CD to the eject runners. The operation will time out. Loads them OK just can't get them out!
The worst case is if the CD has a burr round the edge. They get half way in or out then jam up the whole mech - usually causing it to go out of align.
If you have no errors displayed then i guess it just can't eject it.
Holding the eject button down for 3seconds+ will create an eject all which gives more time for each cd to eject.
If you have done this and it now thinks there is no CD in go through the loading a CD to that slot but DON'T put a CD in - let it time itself out. It may realise there is a CD in.
Let me know how you get on..

Darryl, Ian,
thanks so far.
No, it´s not the 6CD-unit, just the single CD-unit.
But the idea to make the unit think it loads a CD and then remebers the CD in tray is a good hint.
This could work for the single unit also.
Will go out in the snow and try it directly.
If you don´t hear from me, the unit has eaten up the second CD

SUCCESS !!
System said still "No CD" after starting so it did even not try to eject the media when pushing the button.
I took an old CD and fed the sytem with it until it began to pull in.
Then i pulled it out quickly.
But the advance was, that it recognized the media inside again with the result that it tried to push the CD out.
Emphasis on "tried"because this did not work.
I then supported it a little bit with the CD that i put into the tray and voila the media came out.
Thanks Ian for the ignition hint.
Regards
André
