Stainless Steel Protection Bars |
|
Can someone confirm the legal position regarding the fitting of these . I seem to remember reading somewhere that only a particular type of plastic ABS nudge bar was currently legal or would be legal in the near future.
If they are legal, has anyone fitted one and do they do the job or just another bit of bling!!?

Don't do it!
I'm not thinking from a legal perspective, just IMHO they won't look good onyour D3, but horses for courses......
There's a 'proper' Abar on sale on the site at the moment you might want to consider?
Legally, LR Dealers cannot sell these anymore, but there's nothing to stop you fitting them as an individual.
Good luck in whichever path you choose.... Bodsys Brake Bible

Just because you can buy something, doesn't mean you can fit it/use it - "caveat emptor"
My understanding is that anything before April 07 date might be able to be fitted with a rigid frontal protection system. However your ins. comp. might have something to say about it, and in all likelihood should you be involved in an accident with a rigid frontal protection system you are going to be much more liable to civil suit and everyone, including plod taking a very dim view.
Anything built/registered after the 07 date should not be fitted with a rigid frontal protection system, or any that does not comply with EU regs. The M-Power Express

Thanks for the advice on LR ABar fitting and the 'eu legal' side of things. Very much appreciated.

No worries,
I am not saying yay or nay either, as I intend to fit (well, 10 will hopefully) the LR wrap aound metal bullbar, but mine is an 04/54 and my insurers have given me the nod, with the advisory on potential civil action. The M-Power Express
