Staggering Difference with ATF Double Flush

Just got back from Duckworths Bow down

Had a niggle with a brakes discs, which they replaced (and pads) under the parts warranty of the supplied part Smile

However, as a last minute request that I'd been pondering over for a while, I asked for the ATF double flush. The symptoms were slight juddering when accelerating hard at around 30mph. However when a (proper Wink ) trailer was put on the back, it was much more noticeable. Car will be paid for in September, not sure whether I'll go D4, but might keep this for another year, and if I do, I thought the old oil couldn't be doing any good. 06MY with 80K on the clock.

The difference is truly staggering. It accelerates like a new car. Obviously the judder has gone, but when accelerating reasonably hard, it just flies through the gears - I can hardly tell it's shifting. I'd always thought that my AT2s didn't help with smooth acceleration - but it must have been the old fluid. Some minor drivetrain shunting that I'd always though was a 'feature' has now gone. By far and above the best spend I've done on the car. Genuinely can't believe the difference.

Should definitely be a service item at around 80K Thumbs Up

Sounds good John.

If you don't mind telling, how much was the double flush ?

I had same problem around a year ago, but just had gearbox oil changed [so no double flush].
Cost for that was around £200
If I recall a double flush was around £350 at the time.

John,

I'm in the same boat, 88k and it is noticeable. What did Duckworth's charge if you don't mind me asking.

PM me if you would. Thumbs Up

Because our machine changes the fluid via a dialysis system there is no need to change the filter, in fact to do so rather defeats the object because it would require wasting about 5 litres of fluid!
