Squeak drives me cracked!! |
|
There is a squeak that I can hear while driving which, although it appears to be somewhat related to the bumpiness of the road, it happens on perfectly smooth roads also - it sounds like birds chirping, or mice squeaking - yes, I have checked for live animals! I think, but not 100% that it doesn't happen when it is raining, which makes me think it could be suspension related
It is not the seat, or dash , but appears to originate somewhere on the drivers side, but is very hasrd to pin down exactly where it is from! anyone had similar trouble which they have sorted out?
Andy

Seem to remember a similar problem with Defenders, drove people mad. Turned out to be the bonnet hinges, a drop of oil soon cured it. Just a thought.

Hi Andy, I had a similar squeak which I narrowed down to my rear tailgte. Its just a thought but if you open the top section, try pushing the bottom and see if it squeaks. If it does, i removed the oval cover around the latch on the bodyork, slackedned the bolt on the latch and adjusted it slightly so the tailgate puleed in slightly more against the rubber. Problem sorted. Its worth a try as we could locate it and it sounded further forward in the car than it actually was. Anyway, good luck, regards, Chris.

mine does something which sounds the same, it only does it at certain temperatures and speeds though and comes from deep in the dashboard so I think it's probably air vent path related somewhere ? I've decided to ignore it now that I've decided it's too much aggro to get fixed and theeeeennn......???

I had a similar noise that I discovered was coming from the centre rear head rest.

I got one!
If someone sits in the OS rear seat or I put that seatback down - it goes away.
Dealer half sorted it on last service, but now it's back!

New car had bird song as standard. Turned out I could replicate noise if i tried to move the centre cubby box lid slightly side to side. WD40 on latch - "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."
