Do any of our sponsors offer tuning/remaps for a D4? |
|
I have a 2016 D4 looking for some extra punch.

As above Bell Auto's, its a PCM bench job to remap the D4's.

Mea culpa - they certainly were forum sponsors.

With my recent experiences and what knowledge I have gleaned from it . I would be very reluctant and nervous to remap these engines as they are on the edge of their capabilities and reliability in the D4.
Is the OPs 16 D4 car or commercial as the Euro 6s are no slouch anyhow . If a commercial it will be euro 5 so maybe worth a look. As was pointed out to me and the logic is difficult to dispute that engine is fitted in other vehicles with little in the way of issues . however in the long run lugging around 6.5 ton is a big ask on top of an impressive get up and go from a standstill.

Thanks for the advice. I will drop BAS a note. DMS have offered a discounted rate of £550+VAT. According to them, they take the power up from 256bhp up to 322bhp with a huge increase in the torque up from 444lb.ft up to 552lb.ft.

Am I right in thinking the RRS has the same sdv6 and that was 309 hp? If so, is the D4 detuned because its more likely to be found in places where fuel is a lower grade?
Ive been thinking about it, as Id like to try and get rid of that bottom end lag tbh 2013 Baltic Blue D4 - a balance between family car and camping machine - trying to not bladder it with stuff I dont need!
2008 FLR2 - bit travelled and surprisingly good - exchanged for above
1967 S2a SWB - the old girl - current, original and much loved
1998 - Td5 overlander - much travelled and very much missed
1996 - 300Tdi 110 overlander - much travelled and much missed
1998 - FLR 1 td4 - my first Civvy Land Rover!

I didn’t want to remove the ECU so I’m trialing the TDI tuning plug in.
So far all good, 7 modes to choose from all selectable on the fly from an app on your phone.
I will turn it off soon to see if the difference is still noticeable, but pleased at 4 weeks in. A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.

The hardware is all pretty much identical
The power and torque increases on the 6 speed are limited by the the gearbox input torque
The 8 speed still has to be restricted somewhat, but to a lesser extent. The early 8 speeds can be mapped to a little over 300bhp, with the later (Adblu) models capable of over 330bhp! My D3 Build Thread

I was wondering same, in Jag XJ 2013 this same engine/gearbox produces over 300bhp, so why not in D4 ?!
