Speedometer Calibration
Hi All
I have added 265/65R18 BFG K02’s to my D4 TDV6 which is a bigger diameter tire (+ 41mm)
This has resulted in the speedo under reading by about 5%. Thought I would get used to compensating for this as I drove but 2 speeding fines later I concede that I was wrong.
I assume you can’t recalibrate the speedo electronically so my idea is to print a sticker to cover the markings on the speedo facia / dial - not sure if anyone has done this before but it should be easy enough.
Is the instrument cluster a sealed unit or can you get past the Perspex cover to access the dial / facia?
Cheers

Things are easier and less risky than in the posts linked to above. Whilst it remains a critical parameter the IID will write to all locations for this particular parameter to keep the check valid (usually the IID only writes to the active CCF location). That said, it is not something I have used myself.

I carnt see spedos being that far
Out as when you go up in wheel size you go down in profile size my 22”s with 35 profile
Tyres are the
Same size as my old 19”s with standard tyres or there abouts and I don’t see any difference in my speed tomtom has always been 4-5 mph less when traveling at 60-70mph in all my vehicles due to gps lag and is still the sameDisco 3 gone but not forGotten

I went up in width and profile from 255/55 R19 to 265/65 R18’s
I ended up testing my speedo against my GPS and an app on my phone - both showed that my speedo was fairly accurate even with the bigger tyres on!
The maths states that my speedo should have been under reading by 5.3% due to the bigger tyre circumstances - but it was not!
Can only conclude that what they say about manufacturers calibrating the speedo’s to underread slightly is true in my case.
I now have bigger tyres and an accurate speedo and didn’t change a thing - happy days..Land Rovers never get bogged! - merely delayed

Going from 55/19 to 65 18 would mean they are their same
Size there abouts you went up 1 profile size and down a wheel size so would be roughly the sameDisco 3 gone but not forGotten

Just gone from 19”s to 22” on mine and after checking that site it’s not even worth me changing it
At 70 mph I would only be going 73
At 30 I would be going 31 very minimal
