Special programs off, transmission fault, etc.
I was parking the vehicle and turning the wheel (and probably braking lightly) when the DSC light started blinking. It was followed by the transmission fault, parking brake fault and special programs off messages on the LCD.
Pulled the following codes off Jeeves:
Quote:
Engine Petrol
P0504-64 ( 68 ) Brake switch A/B correlation - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure
P0504-29 ( 68 ) Brake switch A/B correlation - General signal failure - signal is invalid
Transmission
U0416-86 ( 2C ) Invalid data received from vehicle dynamics control module - Bus signal/message failure - signal is invalid
Vehicle Dynamic
C1A96-62 ( 08 ) Brake lamp switch circuit - Algorithm based failure - signal compare failure
The EPB didn’t want to engage at all until I cleared all codes after pulling them. Then the EPB worked fine again.
A search across the forum would indicate that I’ve most likely got either a broken brake bulb, reversing light or brake light switch.. I think?
Brake switch or bulb or low battery all three will show up the fault but it’s pointing to the switch and or bulbRange Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8 what a car

Mine did this and it was the steering sensor needing calibrating. Took five minutes with the IID tool to reset it and never done it again since.

Thanks guys.
This morning, when I powered on, there were no issues on startup. All normal lights in the rear were lit as one would expect. When pressing the brake pedal, three lights were illuminated (so top bar and one on each side). When reversing both reverse lights were on. Doesn’t seem to be anything wrong so who am I to argue with the car... 8)
Drove 65 km with no issues.
I’ll get a few spare bulbs and a BLS just in case...

I had this happen late last year, was the brake switch that was causing the issue. Happened when I was off roading and in the middle of some sand. Car lowered itself to accessible height and left me sitting on the sand
