Brake light switch or brake light bulbs would be my first thing to look at......

More likely to be brake switch or bulb than the ECU. First 2 are very common, thankfully the last is almost unheard of.

Hi Tony,
I had a similar experience. I was driving along and "Engine system fault" message appeared and "special programs off"message appeared and car went into a reduced speed mode. As soon as I restarted the car and she was fine but it happened a few times. I have been to the dealer but the found no codes and I got a software update. It has not happened since but it seems like you had a major event, was it the ECU or the turbo. Were there any other symptom? I'd just like to make sure before my warranty runs out.

Thanks

Mark

same symptons as yours but landrover assist diagnose engine ECM.
but landrover did a full diagnostic the picked up the turbo as it a fault. it must have been a electric issue because car was running ok..
new turbo fitted on landrover warranty total cost £1800 plus VAT
