spanish postcode
Hi All,
Does spain use postcodes that I can put into my satnav. Its no problem if they don't I can use lat/long from google earth but post codes would be easier. If they do are they accurate.
Many thanks Andi.

YES we use post code, but is not as accurate as to take you exactly to the requested address ... though it will take close, the post codes in Spain cover relatively large areaslost in translation!

One post code can cover a whole urbanization (housing estate) this may well be 2000 + properties. What area are you looking for In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Down and out's Velar

Thanks for the replies.
We are planning a trip to northern Spain staying at various small hotels, hope to visit picos de europa, tour the northcoast and may be pop down into Portugal.
Fairly good with lat, long, osgb, maps and satnav in general so no worries. You get so used to just wacking in the post code that it's easy to get lazy. On a trip to scotland once the post code was way off, and im ashamed to say it took some time to work out where the cottage we were renting was. So idealy I want everything sorted before hand, probably using google earth. Hopefully I can find the larger conurbations ok.

If you are planning a trip to northern Spain to visit picos de europa, tour the northcoast ...them you stay near to my home ....exactly the town is GIJÓN in Asturias, if you need help with something or some advice or idea that visit or not visit feel free to ask, I will be happy to help. If instead you are adventurous and just fiddle around ... I get it too ... enjoy your trip
....depending on the time comes, in Asturias you can find snow, beach, golf, history, gastronomy ... everything..
...the only problem is that the laws are very restrictive here with the use of 4x4 in the wild ... this almost all prohibited...
It may well be worth looking at joining the Spanish Disco 3 Forum

On my last trip into Spain (the first in my D4) we found a combination of town and street name worked best most of the time. In fact, I was surprised how many little roads were listed. As a second resort, I would zoom map to nearest town etc and manually move the map, tracing the route and selecting the actual destiation point straight off the screen. As above, with just a 'postcode' we sometimes ended up miles away from our actual destination, at what I guess would just be the centrepoint of the area code's location.
Don't forget that with the speed at which they build major roads in France and Spain your satnav will probably be out of date. It's always worth carrying the most up to date paper atlas you can as a backup for when the Disco insists you are driving across a field or through a mountain D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

Once again thanks for the replies
I update the satnav regularly, but I know you can never be 100%, I have a paper map.
On my satmap I can zoom in and then goto that point I will see how effective that is.
ruben, it looks like our trip will be late May/early June. Your pictures are great, now really looking forward to the trip. Sorry to ask, Can you recommend a good garage in your area in case I have problems.

It is a pleasure for me to answer you....
here in Asturias you will find LAND ROVER asistence, and all the country too, here in the dealer in Oviedo where I go, they are good dealer and are happy to help if you could need it, and if so, I would have no problem lend you a hand with them, I have good relations there. If you do your trip, I would facilitate my phone number if you have a problem here, I will be happy to help you if you would need it !

Ruben
thanks very much for your help. If it is ok I may PM you nearer our trip for the garage number. Our rough itinerary is 2 days picos de europa, then possibly 1 night Luarca then towards Viveiro near Ferrol for l night. Then south to Portugal. Then from approximately half way down Portugal(costal route) diagonally towards Santander, visiting inland areas.
Still not even sure how long we can be away from work.
