Well, I thought I may as well have a say, seeing you have maybe woken them up at North Ryde, Settler. So I faxed the following:

Land Rover Australia 31 July 2007
65 Epping Road
North Ryde NSW 2113

Attention: Mr Roger Jory, General Manager.

Dear Mr Jory,

Re your letter dated June 26 2007 advising that Solitaire Land Rover are the local dealers from July 1, I find it surprising that Solitaire have made no attempt over the past month to contact Land Rover owners with either a welcome, or more importantly, information about their service facilities. Their newspaper adverts show only the temporary sales location.

As the owner of a D3, which like a lot of others of this model seems to require more service attention than any other two 4WDs I have owned, I am concerned about the ability of an inexperienced dealer to rectify the many niggling problems which come as standard with this vehicle. I am 50km. away from Adelaide, and I would like to be assured that:

A. Any problems will be fixed competently and quickly without requiring repeat visits, which take up a full day and 100km. of travel.

B. Service costs will not be higher than the already outrageous amounts charged by the previous dealer.

The D3 is a great car to drive but the reliability is suspect and without adequate backup, mine will be joining the used vehicles in front of a Toyota dealership.

Thank you for your attention,

It will be interesting to see the response.
 Ex Defender 110 200Tdi owner.

I can safely say that you can factor in repeat visits

Land Rover Service

Hi All,
Have been following this post with interest. I can tell you first hand that "service" in country WA is zero and the Darwin Dealer (who also has changed recently) are hopeless. I'm travelling with a vibration problem which I suspect might be an Injector. Over the next 3 or 4 weeks I'm working my way south and will check out the Alice Dealer but if that fails looks like good old Adelaide so I hope the new dealers are operational by then! . Have had experiece with Southern Landrover WA, Port Melbourne Dealer & Black Forrest and found all ok, except for high cost in WA.
My concern is growing as to the wisdom of touring Oz with a TDV6 its pretty obvious that country dealers are not up to standard. I saw another post re quitting the vehicle before the warranty runs out and it might make a lot of sence

Cheers Confused

Solitaire

I can say that I am worried by the LR attitude. I had always considered the Prestige and Blk Forest attitude and servicing to meet and exceed my expectations. I worked in computer servicing in the complex equipment area(big ones, worth millions) and I was expected to meet and exceed customer expectations, always. So my criteria might be higher than most. A workmate in the same group had an new Audi A4 and said he would NEVER buy another Audi while Solitaire had the dealership because the service was consistently Censored I hope things have changed but the fact that they do not provide loan vehicles during warranty work is another disincentive. What do we do?

I for one can say that the previous Darwin dealer was more than hopeless and I had much correspondance with LR about all the unhappy LR owners and negligent service. I was hopeful that a move to another dealer would fix things but I guess it is a Territory thing re. service of any kind. I believe the Alice Springs people are better as I knew them from years ago and had my Td5 serviced there OK. LR has to work hard to get back the confidence of their customers after the performance of previous vehicles but they don't seem to be going about it the right way. 2013 D4, E-diff, Vision pack

OK, D3 Friends,

I personally have the feeling that Mr. Jory doesn't give a Censored about D3 customers in Australia.

I tried to contact him directly and his PA just fobbed me of. I asked whether he could please respond to my fax. Again, no response.

I am not sure who is reading the comments in this forum but certainly not any Land Rover representatives.

What can we do to change the stinking attitude of LR Australia? Well, I think we should hit them where it hurts. I am keen to write an open letter to LR Australia in one of the main stream newspapers. Does anyone know a journalist we can contact to help us with this? Let's put our heads together and confront LR Australia as a united force. This seems to be the only language LR Australia does comprehend. Their sheer ignorance and avoidance technique starts to make my blood boil.

The pretty advertising campaigns just don't show you what kind of Censored you have to put up with after the purchase of a Land Rover, do they.

Anyway, open to comments and suggestions.

Cheers

LR support

During my Darwin stay I knew a fellow who was a mechanic but was working in the computer industry. He had one of those Mazda mid sized 4wd's. After a service at previously mentioned incompetent Darwin dealer the car was running rough. He took it back twice to be told nothing was wrong. He wrote to Mazda in Japan and they got straight back to the dealer and told them to fix the car. The dealer complained to the customer as to why he did that!! Shocked It was a sensor connected incorrectly after the service. That is the sort of response that shows why the Japs are taking over the auto industry and why others are going broke. LR should take note.

Has anyone sent Mr Jory and the dealers they take their car to this website?
I did for the Dubbo dealer and the service and parts guys were grateful (well they appeared to be so)!
They will learn something if they bother to look.
 regards
Peter

Maybe you guys should escalate your letters to the PAG Managing Director: Mr David Blackhall.

It is obvious you are not being heard.

Tata buying Landrover and Jaguar????

Hi D3Friends

Check out this article:

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...refer=asia

Not sure if it's true, but if the Indian truck company TATA is taking over, we'll all be driving around with a big T in front of us Wink

Time to offload this liability?

hmmm. Food for thought.

Cheers

The way I see it (and speaking from extensive experience here) the problem lies in the stealers themselves.

Like most retail outets these days, they are not interested once the sale has been made.
They don't like warranty work as the fees are more or less fixed and they can't scam more from the customer.
Many still don't realise a D3 is not a D2.
They can't get enough good mechanics because the mines swallow them up.
Their training on D3 systems is below standard.
And like lots of Aust companies, they wouldn't know what customer service was if it bit them on the *rse!

Many of these problems are also LR's as they should be educating the stealers. Bad service=poor sales!

I've been to two separate ones now (one an 1100km return trip and the other a 1500km return trip) and neither could even read the TSB's properly, which points to being either overworked or undertrained or possibly both.

I've basically given up on them. From now on I am providing the stealer with the jobs I want done in writing including TSB's. It's interesting that for every TSB I've had to have done, the stealers I've been to have tried to deny their existence. One even said 'What's a TSB?".

But if you think toyota or nissan are any better, think again. They have more service agents in this country because they need them!

Oh well, I'll be out of warranty in 4-5weeks and will soon have a faultmate SV.

If LR can't lift their game, then maybe it'll be something else next time.
 Have a nice day!

Just had a call from NWC research doing a feedback on my dealer.
Told them about regional dealerships being a problem.
Maybe yous should ring them and invite them to survey you about your last trip to the dealer.

Land Rover will never compete with Jap crap without giving decent service. I am happy to put up with the odd problem if it is fixed with good service, no arguement and a sorry.
