soooo back from the stealers,
had a good crawl around the D4.
have to say i was a little disappointed...
felt alot like a D3 that had ram raided the chrome section of halfords covered in superglue...
apart from the 3.0 and the nice rouching on the leather it was just like D3 really...
I wont be trading over tbh..
and to think i went out half expecting to do the 50/50 thing..
on the + side, riders truro seem to be doing well with them, they had 5 or 6 waiting to be PDI'd.
now the FFRR, i DID like the look of THAT...one wife.......livid

i had a look around a D4 Tuesday and have the same thoughts. other than the new engine i dont really like the changes where will i put my wallet, phone, id pass, and all the other bits of junk i currently store around the ashtray area.
and it will cost me £50k with the tow pack, even more by the time ive added the options to bring it up to the spec of my current 06 HSE (ie rear aircon etc), thats 10k more than i paid for the D3
there is also less legroom to the left of my legs cos the bendy dashboard takes up the space.

phew... glad it's not just me....
i think i'll wait to see what the defener looks like if and when it ever comes out...failing that it'll be D5 or maybe even RR if bonus culture isn't completely flattened within the next year or 2..
and don't they just look wrong with normal tyres on? got so used to seeing AT2's..one wife.......livid

Not the only one, me too! OK wouldn't say no if one was given to me but it's gone too prissy. When mine (well Mrs DSL's) is due for replacement will be having a long hard look at the competition. I was not very impressed with the changes detailed at the factory tour, seems like lots more to go wrong.

I'm hesitating too, want to wait for the new Defender but no idea when it will appear. Until then I am really enjoying driving my D1 and 2, it's nice to have 2 cars that are paid for. A rare thing for me, usually have a whopping HP payment going out every month.2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

that's the bit that's got me on hold, I've already done 14k miles in 6 months this year, every mile has been a pleasure in D3. I had a defener from riders on loan for 2 days while MIL's d3 was having a service, whilst it was good fun i wouldn't want to drive more than a few miles in it. also needed those seasick tablets too,
as you say DSL, i wouldn't say no if i was given one but the D3 is paid for in full, it's a good spec (SE) for me to get the 3.0 D4 with equivalent toys would cost a small fortune.
and for all that extra dosh i'd want it to feel at least just a bit different inside, i got in the one there and it was an HSE, it felt all too familiar with a few more buttons on the wheel and a few more annoying reflections of the sun on shiny chrome bits..
still in a dilemma as to what to replace her with, was going to look at a basic older d3 but they're asking for really silly money.. it'd cost me to downgrade one wife.......livid

I was swayed to test drive by the good 2nd hand values and the 2 yr deferred payment
went and drove one and couldn't see the 28k it would cost me - performance not the leap I was expecting
now looking @ remap and colour coding

Had I been staff I would have got my P45. Mind U I wasn't in their best books as we'd been "discussing" turbo and EPB "issues".

Could this be the first time that the introduction of a new model has driven UP the second-hand prices of the old model? 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

Having seen the D3 in the flesh I'm in the same mind as DiscoDunc ...
May look around in 6 months or so for some sort of replacement - I really only need a good towcar now
No off-roading, no requirements for 7 seats
Wonder when the new Defender will appear?
