United States 2006 LR3 4.4 V8 SE Auto Chawton WhiteLR3
Soon to be LR3....I mean disco 3 owner in Colorado

I will be recieving my new white v8 SE LR3 (xenons, cold climate, third row) next wednesday and have a few questions.

Can you use a high lift jack on the LR3? I have friends who have them and would let me borrow one if I was going off road.

I also saw a picture of an LR3 with the spare tire mounted on the rear liftgate in the gallery section, is this an option only available outside the U.S.? How could I do this? I'm not a fan of the spare being under the car.

And if there are any Land rover owners in colorado who know of some good trails to take the LR3 on, let me know.

Thanks,
Mac

Not sure about a high lift jack... no idea if there is a safe place you could use it on if you can't reach the official jack point. (And I'm not a high lift jack enthusiast.)

Sorry, there is no rear tire mount option anywhere... honestly, it's really pointless and less safe. (Sorry, "looks cool" does nothing for me.) The tire really doesn't get in the way and sometimes even helps. Smile There was a picture of someone that retrofitted a mount... that's probably what you remember. (They also had a different size wheel/tire spare if I remember... even more useless.)

There will shortly be one available in Melbourne according to one of the dealers. I dont have any details atm but I am sure I could go back past in a week or two and see if it is now available.

If one becomes a real product, it will be from a third party and not a Land Rover "option." I assume there will be enough people that want "looks" over functionality/safety... so it's bound to happen.

Oh yeah, here is the guy in Israel with the rear mounted spare that isn't the same size:

If you must "have this look" now, I'm sure you or a custom shop can retrofit an existing Kaymar tire carrier or equivalent to work.

Is the carrier attached to the upper door? It's going to be very heavy if so..

And what a bizarre place to put a tent! Shocked Shocked Shocked

Odds are it's attached to the bumper for it's main support.

I think I commented on that before: Roof-top tents are commonly used in many regions... traditionally to escape the wildlife and rainfall/flooding. It's obvious you haven't spent a lot of quality time with crocodiles or dingoes. Razz It's also very fast to setup and take-down... just a minute or two. Very convenient.
