Soaking wet floor but not the obvious reason why

I previously had a wet drivers footwell but put this down to the common problem of blocked drains.

Yesterday we drove approximately 80 miles on a mix of motorway and country roads with the air con on quite high in the heat. Arriving at our destination I noticed the drivers footwell was sodden. You could have almost filled a bath when I rung out the floor mat.

I wondered the following:

Could it just be condensation from the air con?

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Could it be anything else?

Thanks very much.

Had this issue on a previous vehicle where the tray that collected the condensation under the condenser had a crack in it, and instead of the water running out of the tray through the drain pipe and out onto the road it dripped out into the footwell. Had to remove some of the underdash covers to discover the issue with car running and aircon on to find the leak, and a good smear of silicone sealant sorted the issue. Have a smell of the liquid to make sure its not coolant as that's a totally different issue. Thumbs Up

Also, make sure that the air con drain pipes aren’t trapped or kinked, or indeed that they go outside the car and are attached properly.
