Snow chains and Cros Blanche 2007
Hi Nick
To take part in the event, you must have quality chains front and rear. I have used pewags for the last 3 years, and had no trouble. For Disco 3 I would recomend Pewag Austro SR. A fully welded, slim link chain.
You will likely have to use wheel spacers, to avoid a clash between chains and vehicle hardware. We have hoffmann spacers available for Disco 3.
We are running an information day for the event on the 18th Nov and you are welcome to come along. Its free and should be very informative.
Please feel free to call or email if you have any questions. My number is 01255 556622 or email chrishill@tbruk.com
I'm sure you'll get a pm about commercial/promotional posts some time, but in the meanwhile, how about endearing yourself to the forum-ites by offering a special package on the Pewag Austro SR and Hoffman spacers? Since there were two dozen takers for sump-plates, I'm sure chains will have a popular appeak.
Please make sure you list wheel size options, RRP and the generous saving, as my PC seems unable to display your wares (lovely white space under a heading 'SNOW CHAINS').
cheers,

Can I ask where you got your tyres from and whether you also changed the wheels? I am new to winter tyres and don't know what people normally do. If it isn't too cheeky can I also ask what they roughly cost?
Cheers,
Chris

Could I ask why you need the wheel spacers? I had the impression that there is enough space. Which parts risk to clash? Which distance increases these "wheel spacers"?
Many thanks in advance!

I got the work done through Pneuhüüs RTR on Rautistrasse - no change in wheels at all, just new tyres.
Yokohama 265/60 R18 - 1380 including fitting. Plus they're storing my summer tyres until March for 40 francs.

Hi LHD,
My Italian is non-existant and my German's rather rusty having last studied it 16 years ago. I keep meaning to start German lessons but haven't done so yet. How's yours?
I ended up booking the D3 into Emil Frey as it needed a few things done on warranty (petrol tank prob, software update, air suspension mod and coolant sensor replacement). They have "special deal" on tyres and wheels at CHF1k a corner. I'm not sure of the benefits of the extra wheels, except for off-roading so am thinking of going for the cheaper option.
Have you driven the D3 in snow yet?
Cheers,
Chris

I went over the Gotthard pass at the weekend but no snow on the roads.
4'000 for a set of wheels plus tyres? I'm not bothering with wheels - just swap the tyres twice a year.
I paid 1'420 including fitting, balancing and storage of the summer tyres.
I'd say you'll pay around the same to get it all swapped back over - be it just wheel-swap or remounting tyres - anyway, cost between 120 and 200 francs.
In today's AutoExpress magazine was an advert for Spikes-Spider..
They do a model that fits the D3. They are available in the UK from Roof Box, along with other 'traditional' snow chains. They also sell the AutoSock which looks an interesting product.Matt
