Further to stuff mentioned elsewhere in this Forum,
HAs anyone had the LR OE snorkel/rasied air intake fitted??
If so, have you used it in water crossings and how well does it insualted against water ingress into the air intake??Have a nice day!

guilty as charged...
I did modify the fitting slightly with the addition of some foam tape, draught excluder type, between the s/steel mounting bracket and the wing to make a better seal. not depth tested it as yet though.
There are a couple of points to bear in mind though:
the air intake 'liner' inside the wing has two notches to allow the plastic clips on the grille to grip, no amount of silicon sealant will prevent water ingress once stopped in water for either the LR or Safari model - unless Safari have fe-engineered the complete air intake system, which I doubt.
the air ducting is formed by the space betwen the inner and outer wing, connecting to the filter box by a rubber grommet, again I would not want to find out the hard way that the seal between the wings is 'unreliable'
The LR 'raised air intake' is just that - it is not described as a snorkel with good reason. Whilst it will protect against splashes and brief immersions, I would not want to drive a vehicle where the base of the intake is immersed for any but the briefest of intervals. If Safari have any sense, they'll follow the same product description

I will second 10’s comments. I have mine fitted as a “just in caseâ€, as I’m not happy with the location of the air intake. For instance imagine a vehicle approaching in a flood and pushing a bow wave, the water would pour into the air intake. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
Third that, when it comes to water the raised intake is a safety net, nothing more. There's a lot more stuff you would need to waterproof if you intend on a lot of wading that deepThe End

I'm not really that interested in going into water to deep.
Its moe important to me that it stops dust intake. The air intake on my car is already orange inside from gravel dust.Have a nice day!
