Strap looks OK but you want meatier shackles than those if recovering something heavy like a D3 in mud.

Can't recommend highly enough the lifting and crane ropes that were mentioned earlier in the thread.

Last recovery I did was an electrician's van, after he'd driven into one of the Winterbourne fords and wasn't going anywhere. He asked if it was OK to fasten the rope on his roofrack...

Straps can be just as lethal tbh ...saw the back end of a D2 get smashed & dented by just the end of the strap alone ... nevermind any shackles or other attachments Shocked 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Just an observation, shackles larger than 3.25 size often won't fit a tow eye on a regular car - especially screw in types. Also many other cars recovery points are rated no greater than 2 tonnes. So with strops, shackles at these levels, the weak point is the other car. You can always consider fitting a safety line at that end to stop the rope/strop, shackle and tow eye damaging anything if the eye gives way.

i can recomend the rope from cranes as i bought it and was with me within a couple of days

when using a tow rope you need to take the strain slowly and only put the power down once you have the strian otheriwse you can put serious shock loads on both cars. i would not use a kenetic rope on any monocoque shelled car that doesnt have a proper chassis,

4.25 ton shackles should be ok for normal towing i have fitted this size to most normal cars as already said 10 ton is a good start. Club N.E.R.D.S
