Snapped Crank ? Disco 4 2015 Lux
Travelling along , sudden noise from engine , started vibrating and lost power, recovered to garage , to be looked at next week, I read codes P0046 , P0047 , P0048 and P050F , still starts but no power and vibrates , Crank , Turbo or something else ?
There was a noise coming from by the battery which I couldn't make out

Since being told after , the only way to tell if a crank has snapped is body off and strip the engine , as I was quoted so much by two local independent Land Rover garages to tell me if it was snapped or not , and the garage it was taken to on recovery saying snapped just by looking at it , I've decided to send it to QP online down in Margate , which is the one that s getting the best recommendations, and it's booked in for January .

one does not have to trip the engine just take the sump off of it for clear view only 45 min work

Sorry , just seen this , I was told you cant get the sump off without the engine out as there's a crossmember in the way , is it an easy job before I send the car off ?

Yes you can but you need to take the cross member off. If this is what the garage is saying, then look for another garage.
Also checking the oil filter for metal will help give an indication if it's the crank or not.
Have a binge on this.

I think people are confusing the D4 with the D3,
It is simple to remove the D3 sump but it is a pretty big job to remove D4 sump.
If Disco_Mikey say's It's 'pretty big job' then it must be.
This tread shows one man's escapade to remove his D4 sump.

Remove the starter motor for access to the flex plate, stick a big screw driver or (preferably) a timing tool into the flex plate to hold it still and then try and turn the crankshaft clockwise via the crank bolt. It shouldn’t turn, if it does you have a snapped crankshaft.
