Smoking when the engine has been idling or in heavy traffic

Sad hi. Has anyone had this trouble. If I sit in my d3 with the engine ticking over for any length of time when I pull away it smokes like made but clears when ive driven it at spead. The same happened when I was crawling through Oxford the other day. I took it to Froggs island and they said that one of my injectors was playing up which ment three of the others were over compensating firing too much fuel in. He said he would get back to me when he had done some research into the problem. What could it be ??

A lot of diesels will do this to some degree. I used to have a Rover 75, and once remember coming out of the NEC and being stuck in traffic for quite a while. I'd started the car cold and got immediately caught up. When we eventually got moving, it left a right cloud. Never did it again.

At work, we used to have a pair of Mercedes ML's (early things), and they could be stood idling for an hour or two once we got to a job (thoroughly warmed up before being left to idle though!), and again, when we left they'd make Mallard appear smokeless!

Yes I can see why they might do this but I don't think my car will pass its mot if it starts smoking like it did when I drove home the other day. I've added an ejector clearer in to my fuel tank to see if this has any affect. If it don't I will need to source an ejector to try as the computer has thrown up an Imbalance on the sixth injector.
