Smell, a bit like tom cats |
|
Hi.
On a few occasions I have had a smell inside the car which I can best describe as the sort of stink that comes from tom cats when they spray, a bit like ammonia I suppose and completely different to a catalyitic converter sulphur smell'
Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this and knows where it might come from, other from a cat that is.
Usually happens shortly after driving off but does sometimes happens at other times.
Can't see any leaks anywhere and no liquids disappearing.
Cheers. 2015 D4 HSE in Corris Grey

Could be the DPF regenerating. That can smell pretty strongly and is perfectly normal.

Do you have your aircon on all of the time? Sometimes if it's been off for a while and then switched on again it can stink a bit 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Sounds like it could be air con bacteria, I had it once and used one of those air con cleaner bombs from Halfrauds

If you are going to try the Air Con Bomb, might be a good idea to change the pollen filter before you do it.

I have this problem in my Defender which has aircon. Whenver the AC is switched on, it stinks for a few minutes.
I tried a 'bomb' but the effect was minimal. I have also tried regularly spraying Febreze anti bacterial into the intake. This seems to work better, but it always comes back.
The Defender ac system is completely different to the Disco, in that its a separate system entirely to the heater, and only recirculates air in the cabin. The only way I am going to fix it is to strip it all down for a proper clean. On the Disco you have a pollen filter, which I would bet is your problem.
