Sluggish & some smoke - EGR valve(s) sticking ?

Afternoon,

Think I may have the dreaded EGR problem - the D3 is getting increasingly sluggish when pulling away from a standstill until it gets up to just over 2k rpm, when you get a hooge kick in the butt, a cloud of black smoke and plenty of forward motion (I am running a mild BAS tune). Once the right hoof is to the floor normal service is resumed - is this the EGR problem or something else ?

I'm almost out of warranty (couple months left I think), am I best getting the stealer to repair/replace the knacked EGR(s) or shall I just fit the blanking kit that I've ordered from Coachman and never have to worry about them again (the EGR's, not the blanks !)

Ta,
Jim

You could have joined CFT - Club Fooked Turbo! Same symptoms but look a bit severe for knackered EGRs. Mine (x2) had similar with ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT message. Sad

Shocked Shocked CFT !!!!, I hope not - at least I'm still in warranty (must check the paperwork Rolling Eyes )

Not getting any warning messages/lights - will plug the BAS box in later and see if any fault codes are logged..........if I put the original map back (to take a trip to the stealers) will any fault codes still be logged, or will the un-remap clear them ?

Just used the BAS box to see what codes are stored.............

P0578 (cruise control - think the rotary coupler is fubar'd cos steering wheel controls are hit & miss)
P140E, P140D (twice), P140A - EGR sensors, and
P0405 - EGR sensor A

So, I reckon that one or both of the EGR's are knacked - and hopefully, I'm not about to join CFT !

Also got a letter today from LR 'reminding' me that my warranty runs out on 30th March - and would I like to take my trousers down and pay them a shed load of cash to extend if for another year....think I'll start another topic on that, they've given me two options, not sure which (if either !) to go for.

I'll get the D3 booked into the stealers for some warranty jobbies before 30th March !
