Sliding Floor

Can you easily remove the sliding load bay floor in order to use the rear most seats? How does it fit / secure in the car boot?

I am thinking of buying one...

Thanks

Jon

Buy two long plastic box with wheels on the bottom the width of a back seat from your local DIY store. Works a treat and saves mega bucks.
There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

I use 12 x 50 L plastic boxes (with wheels) that fill the area between the back of the front seats and the tailgate.
I then cover them with a couple of sheets of light ply and tie the whole lot down with a heavy shadecloth cargo net. Easy to slide out over the tailgate.
Works a treat, can use any combination of boxes and seats. Can sleep on top too. Smile

Sounds like a great set up SKP Thumbs Up Does the ply sit on the boxes or have it's own side supports?

I do the same with plastic boxes with wheels. I also use a piece of plywood over the top for stacking but I glued a piece of rubber matting to it so that it won't slip on the plastic.
D4 HSE....Probably, but not quite decided yet.

To answer your question.....

You can easily remove it as it is fitted to rails bolted to the floor where the tie down loops are on each side. (These are relocated onto the new floor). The sliding floor then fits into these rails just like a kitchen cabinet drawer and removes in the same way - it can't stow in the car with the rear seats up but it is a 30sec job to remove and replace it!

I don't know if it is worth £400, but definitely makes loadin heavy objects deep into the boot easier - SWMBO's suitcase, for example! Try fitting that in a plastic box!

FWIW they're excellent for loading heavy things (dog cages, drum kits etc) into the boot so you don't need to reach over the drop down tailgate or risk damaging it. Definitely worth £150 from ebay or Roger Young Land Rover, wouldn't spend £400 + on it!

Takes seconds to remove, and you can't store it in the car whilst the 3rd row seats are in use. It's quite heavy too.

45 kgs ISTR. Censored if you get a puncture as you have to remove it to get at the lowering nut/mechanism.
