Sleeve for electric connection to zf 6 gearbox.

Hi all!
I'm just in the process of changing oil and filter and also sleeve for electric connection, just in case.
Now Ihave spent nearly 2 hours to release the old one and get the new one in.
Was stupid enough not to check how far the old one was in to be able to push in the locking from under.

Do anyoneoutthere have a good picture when sleeve is in place?
I just don't want to break any plastic parts Shocked

Thanks.
Br Johnny

Thanks.
The locking mechanism is still not going up even when I bend/push with a rod on the sleeve. It went up 5mm but then stopped. Shall it really be so hard so I need to push all can?
I now also think that I damaged the cables going to exhaust but if I manage to get it all together, I will see if I get an error code when I start. Sad

I've had to use a 3 foot lever and block of wood to push them in before

Some can be very tight

I used a block of wood and hammer to get it in.

I will wake up the "Popeye" side of me then and add more force even if it is very limited space due to cables and pipes.
Must say this forum is the best ever due to so many nice people giving reply so quick and good advice.
Thumbs Up
Thanks.

Take a look o YouTube, there's a few videos of the ZF gearbox being serviced. It's fitted to BMW's and others too, so search on the gearbox, not just the LR D4.

I have checked some those but they dont show what I look for. I have not got the sleeve in as far as possible but the locking from beneth refuse to go fully in.
Now I consider to take down thevalve housing to see what is wrong...should never had exchanged the sleeve because the old one looked good. Mad

the locking tab will not go in without a sleeve in place. (and fully in)

Nearly caught me out a few months ago thinking something was broke.

Oil the seals, and hit it in with hammer/mallet/wood etc

don't waste time removing the value body.

Well, worth a try. It is in car and can only access with fingertips so hammer is out of questiondue to no space.
I will set up an arrengement with crow bar with tip pushing on sleeve and will add force on the other end and let it push during the night and hope for the best.
O-rings and sleeve was lubricated very well so...

How about using the end of a 3/8th ratchet to out force on it while trying to push the lock tab up

I made a washer in same dimension as the sleeve and added a dust cover on backside with a screw to protect the sleeve and even out theforce...but...
The sleeve was already damaged so I had to use the old sleeve but put on the new o-rings..not a good solution but the only I can do now. After pushing this time the locking inn went in but suspect that it might leak. Will fill and test tomorrow.

Update:it worked and no leakage! So successful change of gear oil and filter +change of timing belt. Work shop here takes 25000 sek (approx 2200 pund) for timing belt only so money saved. Thanks all for support!
