Skiing Trip
Well we had a fab time, and the D3 was sensational! We drove down to the Alps in France (Les Saisies), it took us approx 10 hours from the tunnel with quite a few stops but OMG, our fuel consumption - 23 MPG we had 3 adults and one child, food and luggage and 2 sets of skis on the roof! We were cruising at about 90mph all the way down mind you
Here is a picture to show how beautiful it was and how much snow we had!

Looks great Nat, I'd be happy with the economy with that much loaded in the D3 and at that speed The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

Looks great 20mpg is about what i get with the roof box
Last year on AT2s with RAI and a roofbox I saw 24mpg. This year I'm running in eco-mode, sleek, lean and.... will probably get 26mpg I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Sleek and lean thats one thing you're not 2004 Discovery 3 - gone

2011 Freelander LE Special Edition - gone
2007 Discovery 3 XS - gone

Slowly improving on that front Dom. Not had a drop to drink for 5 weeks and there's a small improvement in the waistline and a bigger improvement in the wallet
Boring though I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Yup already been to Austria for a week in January, getting withdrawal symptoms already but the family purse won't stretch to another skiing holiday so soon

Bad Hofgastein is great went there a few years back now , went to the small resort of Niederau which was perfect for teaching the kids and the reds are quite steep especially as they were icy too, the black down to the main area is fierce mainly because there is lots of vegetation (shrubs) to avoid. 2004 Discovery 3 - gone

Looking forward to trying to teach our 5 yr old to ski aswell, going to head to Dorf gastein for that. We haven't been to Niederau before, but prefer Austria to France, we been a few times to Obergurgl and Zell am See before, I just find that Austrains seem more friendly, and don't take the p*ss with their prices Welcome to the Global Warming Corner.

you may be in for a very unpleasant surprise following the demise of sterling against the euro. 3 hot chocolates, a gluwein (for me of course) and a coke cost £13 for example2004 Discovery 3 - gone

Marcus is 5 and his 2nd year skiing, went into ski school in the morning and skiied with us in the afternoon. On the last day, he was doing red runs and my heart was in my throat with worry!!!!
Good age to get them into it. Little Miss Do$h is 9 now and can whip down the blues and reds at a pace that puts me to shame. We've done the same with her over the last 4 years - ski school in the morning, lunch, then some skiing with us in the afternoon. Until last year we'd limit the afternoon skiing to about 2 hours, mixing in some play time (snowmen, snowballs, igloos, general cocking about) but every kid is different I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
