What size rim and tyre on early D3
Hi,
Sorry for a question that could have been asked before but a little search did not give a simple answer. Looking to buy a D3 but would probably be one of the first so it is on the cheaper tax. A lot of adverts don't mention the rim size so to work out after purchase expenses what is the standard size for a 2005 and does the spec level dictate the standard rim size ? What would the standard tyre size be as well ?
So based on that and looking at green laning on AT's and hopefully future trips to Portugal, Pyrenees etc what size would be a nice step up from standard without any mods or causing issues with clearance etc.
I'm familiar with the sizes for 16" rims so have an idea of the difference from the size ... had 265/75/16 on my D2 so call it 2 up from standard but haven't worked out the differences for other rims sizes yet !

D3's came with 17", 18" & 19" wheels and owners have over the years fitted 20" wheels and larger.
This link to the wiki will help you identify the size of wheels on any potential purchases.

235/70 17 is the D3 size, 65 is the RRS size.

Hi, I searched wiki for wheel sizes and 4 results came up 3 about fitting tv screens !
So I guess I have to compare the rim in the photo to those in the link if the size isn't mentioned.

Looks like they are listed by increasing size .. well the 17's are with 70 profile and not much of a difference between standard size diameter and the 265/70/17
So a suggestion to max size (or diameter and width) for fitting without mods even if a different rim size would give me an idea of what the options are.

31,6 inch diameter
I use 265/65 R18. As a nice compromise between off-road and V8 brake upgrade..Best regards
