This could be irrelavent, but I have noticed that the site slows or even stops completely when I click a link to a post off the New Posts screen that has more than one page.
I usually click the last page number, to skip directly to the end of the post. This invariably ends up with a long pause, or even a stop time out error from my browser (Firefox).
If I click on new posts which are single page, it usually loads immediately, or with very little pause.
Like I say, it may be of no consequence, but I know programmers need all the detail they can get.

Excess traffic would be unlikely, as I was up early this morning, and I was the only person on the site and it was still slow on multi page posts.

I think it crashed completely at about 7.58pm, I came back later and it was on but slow. I was on RRSport from 8 until 9, and that flies along. As they use the same server, I don't think bandwidth is the issue. My guess would be database problems.
Martin will get to the bottom of it, he just needs us to post as much detail of problems as we can.
In my experience of de-bugging software, its the smallest detail which finally unlocks the door to success

Just for info, RRSPORT and DISCO3 are now on different servers for the time being. The DISCO3 server is supposed to be "better" than the RRSPORT one but we're not seeing that at the minute 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I've told the web host what I think's wrong after some more investigation - hopefully they're working to sort it now.
It doesn't look like a server problem (databases etc) but more of a connection issue 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

If it stalls click the link again to kick it into action - there seems to be a comms issue (dropped packets) connecting to the server. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

what I normally do... sometimes works, sometimes not.
Very difficult to asses as there are many variables involved even before hitting your server and then on its way to me

Very difficult to fix as well - I'm almost certain that it's not a server problem (I've not touched it since last night's slow down) but that it's a connection issue somewhere close to the server 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
