Had a reply from Pete at LR, saying he will look into what is going on with my discovery repair.
Had a call from the dealers today telling me they have asked LR technical to attend their premises to help with the repair. They can't say when this will happen because they are always very busy.
I'm not sure if it means they don't know what wrong with my discovery or they have found the problem and want LR to come in and verify the fault and give permission to go ahead with the repair.

Well nearly a fortnight later I've had a call from the dealers saying they are bring my car back, they think they have got the vibration better. BETTER does not fill me with confidence, but we will see
