Hi all, I thought I'd just tell you all that the side steps I fitted have saved the day yesterday! I was diving slowly through an open gate and it swung shut hitting the side of the car, feeling like it had 'crunched' to whole side in! Fearing the worst, I got out and looked to find that the side steps have taken all of the damage - nothing at all on the doors - phew!
Point of the post? I remnember reading on here that some folks won't fit steps as they don't think they offer anything - WRONG
Martin W 07MY TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey + Alpaca
No ugly kid glass!
Side steps (one with dent!)
BIG GRIN (although turned down at the edges)

Wonky, I can second that, they are definitely useful. Mine have fended off several trolley bashes in supermarket carparks, and if there's a narrow parking space then they will nicely wedge apart the cars either side to make enough room for a proper car. Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?

A guy I know had someone drive into the side of his D3 at slow speed. Side steps really helped limit the amount of damage - there was still minor panel damage to the rear door and the wheelarch trim, but the step took most of the force, and is probably cheaper to replace/repair than a door and damaged sills. I got rid of my steps though after getting them scratched and bent offroad. IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver
SA - 07 VW Golf TDI - White - Sold!
