Don't do it! Side steps always look a bit "Bobby bolt on" in my view and ruin the clean lines. They attract mud and can help the tin worm get a hold.

Having tried both, steps on the 3,tubes on the 4,I would have sliders given the choice
Tubes are a decent compromise for me.
Not as good as steps if you need to regularly get children/elderly passengers on board and nowhere near as robust as sliders. The flat area on the tubes requires a bit more care for a firm footing when wet.
Tubes are easier removed than steps, if you're going off-road/greenlaning,and a lot less prone,so far, to corrosion.
Just my experience "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I've got Steps! They look good and are functional! Tubes are slippery and just for show I guess... I've got kids and they come great use!
Also good for when your cleaning the car! How else can you clean the roof properly Discovery 3 HSE MY2006 - On the very edge of Kent known as Sunny Margate

Put side steps on mine today.
The installation video said one hour per side, ooopppsss....
I took six hours on the first side
Guess what I'm doing tomorrow??
(Just noticed it is still in offroad height).

I like the look of the steps, and they have to be the most practical option if you have children. When there wee legs get a bit bigger it's rocksliders or tubes for me.

I thought neither tubes or steps worked with wade sensors - but LR's site seems to have removed that.
Tubes would be my preference.Mike

Side steps. But I have young children and I need the steps for them to climb into the car.

If you must fit something, then it MUST be Tubes or Sliders, however if you are a short , then steps. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Down and out's Velar
In UK - Dare not say on this Forum
Gone - Lots of Lode Lane vehicles.

Any recommendation where to buy steps for self fitting?
I've got two young children and rather they have a lower sure-footing when getting in and out.
I would have thought the steps would also give a little protection on car parking door dings.
cheers

Steps IMO are the best looking but they rust/corrode and the strip on the side always falls off after the bolt/nut holding it on corrodes

Read the full thread ...
Not a short .. at 6'5 so I have no probs really
Robbies suggestion is best for me ... the look and everything ... 8)
I have four kids one already loves climbing in through the rear tailgate and they argue who sits in the boot
the others are lifted in anyway ....
so sliders for me when I get the chance and funds to fit them
