Shudder on startup

Hope this is disco paranoia again
but mainly on a cold morning, my car as it is firing up will shudder (whole vehicle) for about 1 second and thats it!
cant fault it anywhere else, drives lovely, no other weird noises apart from my a__ Rolling with laughter

just makes me wonder each time it happens. . .although not often.

a few solutions from experience:

1) if buying fuel from supermarkets, best advice would be to add some fuel additives ie redex or similar
2) prior to starting, make sure all accessories are turned off prior to turning the ignition key ie radio/heaters/electric seats etc etc
3) Have the battery checked to ensure its in optimum condition. If not replaced in the past few years, yer might be looking at replacing it to the OEM LR upgraded battery for the D3
4)Could be the early signs of a) alternator failure b) starter motor failure do get it checked at yer local LR dealer

All of the above have been experienced by the "been there, seen it, done it forum member" Rolling with laughter

might be best to consider using main garage forecourts at 1 or 2p more in the winter as most of us have experienced the same rough start in the morning since the cold weather when frequently using supermarket fuel.

I personally use forecourt fuel or I alternate between Shell V power diesel without additives, and traditional Shell or Esso with Thumbs Up

Do you wait until the glowplug light goes off before I start the engine? I wait until the last ping before I start the engine.

Have i or more of the 6 glowplugs failed?

Failed glowplugs do not prevent the engine from starting but affect how it runs for the first few seconds.

Yes, glowplugs have to be the first check. If one or more are not working, then the car might not be on all 6 cylinders for the first few seconds.

I'd go with glow plugs; I suspect one or 2 of mine too.
