| Showing no fuel, etc.. Immediately after brake change? |

I'm hoping somebody can help shine a little light on what I've done to my D4.
I've changed the discs and pads, did the rears first and took it for a quick once round the block. I noticed that the fuel was showing low and assumed that the car had got confused having been held on axel stands for a day.
Carried on and changed the front discs and pads. Then took it to fill up at the petrol station. The car started juddering just as I got there, but only took £40 worth of diesel.
I've pored over the forums to try to see what i might have done, I did accidentally back-fill the brake master cylinder whilst punching the calliper Pistons back which dripped through behind the divers front wheel-arch lining.
I read on several posts that there is a connector located here, but I just took the liner out and it's not where I thought it should be. (Is this connector only there on the D3?)
Is there something else I could have disturbed/damaged? Seems strange that the sender fault only appeared while I was working on the brakes, I've never had any trouble before. Which also makes me wary of taking it into the garage who will probably just diagnose the usual fault....
Any input would be gratefully received.

Sounds like a punctured float on the sender unit?

Possibly Admiral, I know there's a common issue with the sender unit, not quite sure what it it is. Only think I keep thinking is tha it seems so coincidental that it's gone whilst I was doing the other work
I'm hoping someone will say something along the lines of;
"I had that when I put my breaks on - I'd bumped the xxxxxx just behind the xxxxxx, only takes a couple of seconds to sort"
(Though I realise this is somewhat of an unlikely response) Rik

Silly question Did you pull the fuse to disable the handbrake ? I did when I did my rear discs and discovered this also feeds the fuel sender (?)

Good tip for when pushing pistons back in is to loosen the bleed nipple so nowt back up to the master.

Roy, you're a genius.
I hadn't put the fuse back as I'd been hoping to bring the car to work to set up the the epb. Like an idiot I hadn't even considered that they would run on the same fuse.
Sorted the EPB today and I have my car back.

lynalldiscovery - good tip, i used a turkey baster and a milk bottle to lower the level from overfilled, but prevention would definitely be better than cure in this case.
