This all seems to good to be true. Better performance, more MPG etc, what is the downside, other than LR saying the warranty is invalid.
Also, when the car goes to the delaer and they decide to do the usual software upgrade, does that undo the Turbochipping?2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.
Some LR dealerships now offer the T/C upgrade themselves I believe so I don't see how it can affect your warranty.
I've had it done and it made a huge difference to mine, especially when towing. Last Easter (pre-T/C), drove down to Canterbury and back towing our caravan and got about 17.5 mpg out of it. Just got back from France (post T/C) and am now getting about 20.5 mpg. Non towing consumption has also gone up by about 4-5mpg from around 22 to 26/27 mpg. Cruising up a French motorway from La Rochelle the other day I saw 33 mpg indicated for a while but when I had to leave the motorway, it dropped back slowly to about 29.
If a dealer does a sotware upgrade, you do lose the T/C one but Turbochip will remap it again for free.
All in all, I would say go for it. The difference is amazing. Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

There seems to be another “approved†dealer in Ireland at www.turbochip.net based up in Co. Cavan.
Saw their van down around Cork last weekend. Isn’t that Chris Tyler’s territory ??
Yes that is correct, i think they only deal with the trucks and tractors.

TC & Exhaust and other bits
Hello Barry,
I went with the TC on my Metropolis its a great mod! and worth every penny.
I too wanted a little exhaust showing from the back, and looked at the same options as you did (having seen one now and knowing they delete the 2 back boxes) and in my opinion the twins are "too low and very boy racer for an old boy like me" I have opted for a pair of super high quality bolt on stainless steel tail pipes, these fit the bumper cut out, showing only an inch or so of steel and have that factory fitted look.
I have also fitted 20" stormers and a stainless steel front grill & side vent

Hi there Combi
Yes the TC is the way to go , I went for a full exhaust system and not just tips ,
cosmetics left aside I was more interested in the performance aspect. after a TC upgrade an upgraded exhaust on the standard oem , should help the TDV6 breath better. (air intake will be next area to look at, looking like a custom k&n typhoon cold air intake at the momment),
Cosmeticly speaking , i love the Kahn system and its funny I actually like the idea that the system looks low . But hay each to his own.. Good look with the bolt on stainless tips .. Make sure you pop up a picture when you have them fitted .
Also pop up a few pic's of your disco ,very interested in seeing the 20" and the stainless steel grill and vents
Cheers
Barry
