Servicing

I have a 2016 D4, bought from a dealer so I have a bit of warranty left, it was serviced in September at the dealer.

The other day I parked up on the flat, put on the 'handbrake' however the car being in gear moved forwards, I called the dealer and was told that 1. No the break isn't checked during servicing and 2. There is a £192 diagnostic charge.

I downloaded Bodsy's break bible and fixed it myself.

My question is, when did dealers stop servicing cars properly, it always used to be part of a service that the handbrake would be tested/adjusted as part of the service, along with topping up the washer bottle. Now all they seem to do is change the oil and filter for their £300.

You’re best finding a decent LR Independent garage.

Wouldn’t let a LR dealer anywhere near my D4, they’ve all got their heads stuck up their backsides.

i once had a new ish audi and had seen an advert for special deals on audi servicing and thinking an audi stamp in the book would be better than my usual local for re sale time so i inquired exactly what would be carried out for £120 plus vat as was the offer ( my local usually charged me £200 plus vat for a service ) .
erm an oil change i was told. what just oil and filter for £120 plus vat thats hardly a service i said .no i was told an oil service is just an oil change if i wanted a new filter it would be extra Shocked i didn't book it in

It certainly makes you wonder what value a ‘FSH’ brings with a car doesn’t it! Unfortunately!

Checking the park brake certainly appears in the service schedule, not sure which yours was in for?

This is from the 84 month checklist...

"Adjust the electric park brake shoes"... might be that JLR don't think anything needs checking or adjusting before then... very much like the "sealed for life" gearbox oil... Laughing

I get round all that by taking my cars to DM (other good indies exist) who always does top job and catches all the bits missed by dealers Thumbs Up
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!
