Dropped SWMBOs D3 into a stealer for its 60,000 mile service today - asked for a price yesterday and was told €370 ish.
Just got a call, the vehicle needs some bits sorting:
1. A Handbrake service
2. A Ball Joint needs replacing
3. 2 new Tie Rod ends need fitting
4. Tracking needs to be sorted
5. rear wiper arm needs replacing
Costs - €850 plus €450 for the service €1300 Ouch.... I asked why the service cost has gone up €80 and he says oh I didn't include VAT yesterday.
The Disco is out of warranty do it looks like I am going to be seriously out of pocket. 1993 Defender 110 300tdi - many mods

Surley some of those items are known LR faults and were supposed to be recalled and rectified.

Transmission is supposed to be sealed for 10 years.........
Or did you ask for it to be done?

Don't know about Irish law, but if you get quoted a price here, that's the price. If they made an error in their price, then that's their problem. Only exception is if they have a valid reason to believe you are a trade customer, then they can quote ex-VAT prices, but if you are just Jo Public of the street they have to quote VAT price.
Sorry for rant, but this has happened to me a few times (not with land rover garage... yet) and its a pet hate.
Why not tell them you will come collect it as they have changed their price, and also that you are taking it to another dealer who is doing all the other work under recall and see what they say?

i'd stick to the quoted service price if it was me.
few months back phoned Stratstones for a service price and got about £320ish, phoned a few days later to book it in and was told it was £428! Asked what was up with the price and was told i'd been quoted for the wrong service but as goodwill was instantly offered the service for under £400.
When it came to paying, service chap put in the £428 but I mentioned it should be less. He asked why I thought it should be less so I started to explain, he stopped me and said as long as there was a reason that it was fine and did it for the lower price without argument or checking.
dont let them rip you off those 80es!!

I asked for it as I tow a trailer and I prefer to change the transmission, transfer case and diff fluids every 30K miles. Yes, I have the instructions and it looks pretty straight forward except not all the fluid gets replaced by just removing the pan. Still it is better that nothing but not worth a grand. The dealer claimed 5.5 hours of labor and they have to order the parts.
