In for a B service tomorrow - can't find the service book.
Presumably i can take into the dealer when found and have them complete/stamp at a later date - they will have records etc of work done.
But if it is lost - can I buy a new one and track down where the 15k service was done? How would I do this? (nb I bought it at 20k).

Not a problem if your car has been serviced by the dealer network. The vehicle service and warranty records are all in the LR data base. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
Still can't find the l'al bleeder. Presumably I can buy a replacement from a dealer - but will they be able to confirm what services have taken place in the past and stamp it as dealer approved?

Warranty history, yes on the LR site
Service history is not stored centrally if you haven't got a book and you don't know who serviced it (to be able to get history from that dealer) then it will be taken as no service history TLO has left the building.......

Is no service history a problem re warranty or anything - or just a pain in the rear when you come to sell it?
TBH if just this then not a problem as bought it at 20k from Main dealer - listed as still under warranty - should be enough to convince buyer it got the 15k service.... and I can get the chaps who serviced it the other day to stamp the new book

Nick might be able to confirm this but...
When I bought my 2nd hand D3 the original service book although filled in at the front with chasis no etc didn't have any service stamps in the book. Not a problem as it had been a dealer car for all its life so had full supplying dealer history. When i bought it I insisted on it being stamped up. Unfortunately the muppet on the service desk missed one of the services out - went 15k - 45k. Wheres the 30k stamp? er we made a mistake.
No problems says the dealer we will get a new book for you and completely fill it in. New book arrived and it had "REPLACEMENT" or something like that in big letters on every page. Not something your buyer would want to see when you were eventually trying to sell the car on!
I kept an eye on Ebay and got an original full book pack for 05 vehicles cheaply. The dealer simply stamped it up again under my guidance.
I was told that you can't get the original replacement service books as Land Rover won't supply them, hence the "replacement" packs.
yep, all replacement service books ordered through proper channels will have "REPLACMENT" watermarked all over them to stop any miss use.
as long as the dealer has done the service then there should be no problem them re-stamping the book
As to missed or non service stamp for warranty...well your service book is all you really have to prove your vehicle has been maintained to LR guidelines and service within their recommended times...if this is missing then you can be sure your dealer will question missing details and could make a warranty claim difficult or refused if no colaborating invoice or paperwork can be supplied, so really the serv book should be looked after with great care TLO has left the building.......

Cheers fella - my take would be that as the dealer in question sells with the "All used vehicles come with a 3 year, unlimited mileage warranty (balance of)" and I bought it form them at 20k - if they claim it has not been serviced to spec at 15k miles I would have my full purchase price back and see them in court.....
Simplest answer is of course to find the book......

I was going off the info on the Vehicle History Report. I presumed that this was a central data base thing not a dealer only thing In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
