To sell or Break that is the question. |
|
Sadley ( in a way) I’m thinking of upgrading to a D4 ( which one to be decided). Which leaves the question of what to do with my well loved D3. I always said I would keep it no matter what if if upgraded but money doesn’t work like that so I have to sell. My question is with the values as they are I believe I would be looking at circa £5000 (D3 HSE 137000 miles new gearbox 20k ago helps it’s cause!). At that figure I think I could get more breaking it for parts! Thing it is seems harsh to dismantle a fully working car. Has anyone done this successfully? I remember when I joined about 7 years ago a guy was stripping one and was left with just the chassis!
Then just gotta find a nice d4 D4 HSE Luxury

Could take a while stripping and selling, some bits may go quickly but theres probably an awful lot that will sit around for a long time.
Suppose it depends how quick you need the cash and if you have room for the bits for an extended time Joined the BMWX5 45e group

there is a load of bits about now too...
The biggest sellers will be the Eng and G/box, so if you can find buyers for those and a good price then you may be onto something breaking it.... It would probably be best to have it driving when you sell those items as too

I think stripping is only an option if you have:
1. Somewhere to do it, Youll need a big area
2. The tools - Engine lifts etc
3. The time to strip
4. The inclination to package parts, deal with shipping companies etc.
5. More importantly the knowledge to strip and know the value of parts.
