I learned a great deal making modifications to Larry, my 2016 D4 Landmark but sadly he was written off so now I have the chance to start again with Sol, MY2015 HSE Luxury.
I drive around 20,000 miles a year, mostly on roads/motorways and probably 2,000 miles off-road on Green lanes and BOATS but I'm not really into mud-plugging and pay'n'plays, plus I love to camp so my D4 has to be comfortable, capable and versatile (well the D4 starts with most of that in hand ).
From purchase the D4 starts as a lovely vehicle, the previous owner having added a nice few touches like diamond mats, black accents, some vinyls and, most of all, full service history.
In the 4-weeks of ownership I have been busy . First of all I installed the LRP Upper tailgate kit which will allow me to open the boot if I'm sleeping inside for one-night camping stays and never have to worry about a failed actuator:
In my last D4 I carried two wolf boxes - one with tools and fluids, the other with recovery gear, tea making and other assorted items so I've made use of the side pocket for fluids:
Strapped in my bottle jack:
and bought the roof basket from 4x4 overlander:
Also, I fitted a new fire extinguisher, the previous one was used to put out a small engine fire on the car that drove into me:
Last weekend I cleaned and fitted wind deflectors, my FrontRunner roof rack and 270degree Foxwing Awning (I have the sides and a tagalong tent that makes an awesome camping set-up):
And added a smart decal from LRP:
This weekend I've been busy "hammeriting" the chassis
Removing the side steps and liberally coating the sills with Lanoguard grease
Adding Shire Fabrications rock sliders (they stick out more than most and are incredibly tough)
And spraying the entire underbody with Lanoguard
With the time I had free I fitted my spotlights, ready to be wired in by and expert, a smart new gloss black grill from Powerful UK and added personalised registration plates to round off the look:
Sol is named after a character from James Barclay novels if anyone's wondering
Lot's more still to do with deliveries arriving daily so I'll keep this page updated. Any advice & criticism always welcome1978 Series 3 88 Military Green (Gone)

Considering the Lanogard undercoating option myself. Could you elaborate a little about:
How you set the car up to do it (fully raised, axle stands etc)
Prep before using (jet wash or some other prep)?
What you coated underneath -absolutely everything? Bit worried about coating parts I shouldn’t
What you used to get the Lanogard on. You say you sprayed, what did you use?
A lot of info, but mine is a similar age. I’ve been told by my Indy that it is a good condition and so thinking of keeping it, therefore an investment like this now might be good.
CheersGary

Thanks all, pleased with the progress to date
Gary, I raised the car to extended height and wriggled a lot underneath . I had bought some cheap plastic 5ton ramps but couldn't get them out of the garage due to the abundance of Celica parts my daughter has filled it up with . I did have just enough room though.
Jet wash and let it dry, a bit of wire wheel where there was surface rust, hammerite every part of the chassis I could get to (included taking wheels off) then the lanoguard spray was easy. I got a kit that included the sprayer and grease as well.
Next time I do it I'll be buying the extra hose to spray inside the chassis though as it's more likely to rot from the inside.
I didn't mask anything off, just be careful not to spray on brakes but it's quite easy to be accurate with the sprayer.1978 Series 3 88 Military Green (Gone)

Got a bit more done this weekend, painted and fitted the Devon 4x4 fuel tank guard.
Added trims to the roof after rail removal to keep the nasty stuff out of the gutter under the FR rack
And got those vinyls from Powerful UK fitted which I think stand out nicely on the grey
I would have got the Devon4x4 steering and sump guard fitted if the Landy dealer who last serviced it knew what copper grease was Even my 900Nm Milwauke couldn't shift the last bolt so it's going to need some heat I fear
I did manage to finish the CB install though and really happy with a SWR of 1.25 1978 Series 3 88 Military Green (Gone)

Time to update after much work done and Sol is now almost complete
Managed to free the seized bolt thanks to a neat little kit I bought from Amazon so fitted the Devon 4x4 sump guard (after a couple of coats of black hammerite)
Finished fitting the CB radio and a lovely new pair of Gunmetal grey Maxtrax
Finally fitted the new Tuffant steelies and BFG's which I think look great, especially in access height
Added the mudflaps from Rallyflapz (thanks for the lead RonP)
Just a couple of small cosmetic things left to do and I'll be ready to say it's done
Just need to find someone with an IID tool who can turn off my TPMS for me as the LR system doesn't work with steel wheels 1978 Series 3 88 Military Green (Gone)

You can never have enough tools - any elaboration on this? or was it one of the female screw adaptor sets?2005 D3 SE Manual - Gone but not forgotten.

It was this amazing tool set Tufty: https://amzn.eu/d/6jYXJqC
Don't know why I never had one before, it was a breeze, even though the bolt read was rounded off, a little tap on with the hammer then easily off with the Milwauke 1978 Series 3 88 Military Green (Gone)

Hi,
Thanks for replying, I thought it might be, they are good. Irwin do a similar set, couple of days squirting WD40 at them then bash them on 2005 D3 SE Manual - Gone but not forgotten.
2009 D3 HSE Auto - and so it all begins again...
The last couple of weeks have been slowly progressing the final little touches to Sol but for now, the planned modifications are complete
I've added the Terrafirma/Mantec RAI rather than a safari snorkel this time as I think t looks better, is certainly quieter and I'll just have to manage my exuberance when fording rivers so as not to flood it.
I've installed an inclinometer that also gives me GPS data for location, speed, etc. plus battery voltage
Added my social media stickers
I was intending to replace the rear propshaft but a weak hand (still from the accident), rain and the lack of space for leverage meants I will postpone for another time.
However, I did get him out on some lanes and am pleased with the performance
