about €1300 a year each for existing cars - €2000 for all D3's purchased from July1!!! Shocked Still could be worse I believe it is much more expensive in Holland.

The Double D's - I like it Mr. Green

It's 2760 euro Shocked for a 2500 kg car running on diesel in the most expensive region (provincie that is in dutch).
And around 2400+ euro in the cheapest regions.

Here is a link were you can calculate it: http://www.belastingdienst.nl/reken/motorrijtuigenbelasting/

What stops you registering the car elsewhere for instance if you leased it from a company in one area and then lived in another.

Seems silly to make it different in various area's as Holland is not huge anyway so the odds are you will be driving across many of the regions

The dutch Tax and Customs Administration site says that if a car is registered on your name you have to pay road tax. The tax people now youre home adress so they do know in wat region it should be registered and taxed.

And yes it's silly to tax people different for the same thing but I think/presume that the road tax incomes will go to the region or something similar to that. But I do not really know it for sure. Neutral

If you have a company car or such like, you'll have to pay extra income tax because they see it as extra income in goods. I thought they counted 20% of the car value to your annual income but I'm not really sure because with the new "pro green tax regulations" everything has changed. So with the new tax "low emision cars" have to count less extra income, I thougt it was something like 14%.

I hope this long story explains it a bit.
