Seat pads - TSB/any tips on warranty covering this anyone? |
|
I have a D3 with 22K that's 2 years old. It has a cloth interior and heated seats. I've done some searching and read about the TSB that relates to the crappy seat pads and the sagging cloth. I have this problem even though my car would post-date the 06 TSB and so I assume LR made changes to the design to prevent the problem occurring.
I want to get my seats sorted under warranty as they (a) look crap, and (b) aren't as comfortable as they should be. I will book the car in for the new year as it needs to have the fuel pump recall done and then get them to look at the seats at the same time.
I don't want the blighters to fob me off with some excuse or other, so wondered if anyone had an original copy of the TSB they could email to me (proof never hurts) and/or any other top tips that would help me sway the stealers to put this right and replace my crappy seat cushions.
Any advice gratefully received.
Cheers. PAGODA

My advice would leave them as they are unless they are really bad.
The grass isn't always greener as they say and having had mine changed and looked at twice I think the orginal ones were better. SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

There is definately a TSB for them. Should be covered under warranty. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

What Caver said. When my 06 (56) D3 was suffering from that, I just mentioned it at a service and both front seat squabs were replaced without quibble. The new ones retained their shape as long as I had the vehicle.

Thanks guys. DJ - I think I read a previous post by someone (if not you?) who said they felt the originals were more comfortable. But mine just look utterly $h1tty so I'm going to have a go.
Anyone got the TSB for this they can email? PAGODA

There was a delay due to the manufacturer going under but I had mine done in October once new stock had been sourced, so I would check again with your dealer.... nil admirari

I think the issue is that the seat cover and sponge base are seperate items rather than a whole unit.
It depends how good your dealer matches the two together and how tight they do it. I understand they use cable ties to secure.
Never had an issue with supply of the component parts but you can always check with TLO to be sure. SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

Quote:Land Rover GTR Technical Service Bulletin No.LA501-031 issued on 02 October 2006
A customer may report a concern that the cloth cover of one or both of the front seats has become baggy and creased across the center portion towards the back of the seat cushion.
Cause: The seat cushion cover is secured to the cushion foam by two rows of securing rings on the first and second panels, but in order to accommodate the seat heater mat, none are installed at the rear of the cushion, which can lead to the above complaint. A revised cushion design incorporating a different seat heater mat (where installed) allows the cover to be secured to the cushion in the critical area.
Action: Should a customer express concern regarding the above, refer to the Service Procedure detailed in this bulletin to renew both front seat cushion covers. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Cheers DG - but my search produced that (see, I do check first).
Somewhere out there is the PDF. That's what I was after.
Looks like I'll be going armed with the text rather than the document in all it's LR glory, which is still great and I'm grateful to the site members for that! PAGODA
