SE and XS DRL's
Has anyone tried any mods on the SE and my14 XS DRL's ? I was wondering if you could run an LED lamp inside them.
I was a bit disappointed as I was expecting an LED type like the newer freelander but mine appear to be filament lamps (very yellow looking)
They do go dim when you indicate/turn on side lights, would this work with an LED ?
Any expert advice very welcome !!

They are t20. W21 dual filament bulbs in there.
You can go led dual filament or ice white halogens.
I'm not sure if the canbus will kick off, if standard LEDs are fitted?
Dome of the led bulbs draw a bit of current now.
I have the same crappy yellow bulbs. Just ordered replacements for mine
As one filament has already blown ( 3 months old)
Going to try both led and white halogen to match the hids4u xenon upgrade I just did in the main lamps.

DRL replacement bulbs.
Well the replacement halogen w21 bulbs showed up today.
I swapped out the yellow oem.
I don't think there will be a need to go LED. I am happy with the light colour and brightness. Plus there will be no CANbus errors with halogen.
I guess it depends on how long they last though, 3 months for the OEM DRL halogen was pretty poor I think.
I'll post a pic or 2 and see what you think.

Hi,
Can you tell me which hids4u kit you went for, the 35w or the 55w and also was it an easy fit? Thanks Richard

Hi Rich
I went for the 55w version.
It is an easy fit with no wire cutting required.
I cut the rubber cap to run the wires outside the lamp body.
The kit included a grommit to keep the water out.
I did this as I figured if I need to go back to OEM
They are cheap to replace.
The only snag with the 55w version is the ballast is a few mm
Too big to fit where the OEM ballast would go ( under the headlight assembly)
I have mine just behind the lights.
The fit takes about 10 mins a side being careful.
