SE/HSE Seats

I am the humble owner of a S and a back problem.
It is appreciated that the lumbar support is not brilliant in the S model but, I understand from you SE and HSE guys that the seating is better on those.
Does anybody know the best place to get hold of a drivers SE or HSE seat at a reasonable price and, if it comes with all the electrics, does the S model have the wiring ready for it? Cheers

Oh dear been down that route and the answer is no go. Call Kim on 01993 776800 he is a friend of Martins and could possibly alter your seat to make it fit snuggly.

Re: SE/HSE Seats

Could you elaborate on what modification is done to the seat? During 1750 miles of driving my S spec D3 over the festive season I got incredible pains at the base of the back of my neck. I never used to suffer from these pains in my TDi with electrically adjustable seats.
No longer a D3 owner but still subscribed to multiple threads!

I have had my hse passenger seat modified to give me 8 way adjustment similar to the drivers seat. Car is set up to cruise comfortably for two people now.
This was not a landrover modification - but should be.

Did the mods include adjusting the angle of the head rest which for me is the only issue? Roll on a 2007 model with a less angled head rest.

Try Nick Evans on 07702 903536 he is breaking D3's but dont know about the electrics.
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Got my dealer to adjust the angle of the drivers headrest back by about 15mm. He did it by unbolting the upper frame (don't ask me how) and bending it back ever so slightly. I too agree that the seats are Censored to get comfortable in, but I made it a condition of sale that they moved the headrest and ..... presto, enough movement back to get my head resting comfortably...

Sounds to me that the SE model in the UK comes standard with electric seats.. Not the case in Australia! Big Cry
What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!

Is there going to be a difference in the 2007 model? If so do you have a link to any information......thanks Smile

Sorry not claiming any particular knowledge. Just seemed obvious that as the car continues to develop this issue which is easily fixed and is a minor drawback would be addressed by LR. This is of course the logical approach and may not actually happen.

There is always a chance the full seating could be "improved." But I wouldn't hold my breath...

Regarding the head restraints:

The Discovery 3's design of head restraint is highly rated for head/neck safety... in fact, it was one of the few that were rated well in the US:

"Seats in only six vehicles -- all SUVs -- earned the highest rating in the IIHS analysis, including the Ford Freestyle, Honda Pilot, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Land Rover LR3, Subaru Forester, and Volvo XC90." http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/01/whiplash.html

So, expect it to be far more common as time goes on... (The US has new laws starting 2007, which will make head restraints mandatory for all seats.)

I saw how well the Disco had done safety wise and wondered if that earlier post was a hint of something even better coming. Would say that unless there were lots of complaints the head rest would stay the same, atleast until a model change occured.

Actually went and checked how the seats/head rest felt before ordering after reading an earlier post. Seemed ok to me but no way to tell for sure until we rack up some serious kms.
