Ok I’ve had a letter back from Pirelli UK.
It looks like they’re paying for the replacement tyres.
There is no mention of their findings, only that they’ll reimburse me. While I’m still unsure what the issue that caused the splitting was, I can’t complain about the offer from Pirelli considering they’d covered between 15-20k

Shame they don’t report on cause and what they are doing about it. Unfortunately this isn’t the airline industry !

We had the same with Goodyear on my wifes car, after 10K they had begun to split.
Kwik fit came out and changed them, Goodyear refunded the cost in full but never told us what had caused the issue and whether anyone else had suffered the same.2014 D4 XS
