OK, I realize that my newbie questions are probably getting annoying, but I've got another one:
My SatNav screen seems pretty dim at night. Even when I pump up the brightness control under "settings" it still seems pretty dim. Is this everyone else's experience? Does the screen automatically dim when it gets darker or the lights come on?
TIA,
Mark

Mine if anything is too bright and I have had to reduce the brightness by a couple of clicks.

Hmmmm, that concerns me as mine certainly isn't too bright. I'd convinced myself that maybe Land Rover purposely toned it's brightness down at night to keep from blitzing our eyes and messing up our night vision.

Maybe LR have changed it for the 07 model? Mine is an early model and I have found it bright. It does adjust with the dash light control, and if you shine a torch at the light sensor at the bottom of the left hand dial (next to the alarm warning lamp), you will see how it adjusts to ambient light.
The other thing to be aware of is that it does sometimes take a few minutes to adjust itself, and also in the settings of the sat nav system there is a brightness control.

There is a sensor that adjusts the brightness depending on the ambient light levels. I think that it is the clear plastic section that is the mirror image of the alarm telltale.
Try shining a torch on it in dim light and the screen should dim.

I'm not sure that I understand what the "alarm telltale" is -- is it the flashing light on the dash (i.e. amongst the speedometer)?
If so, shouldn't the screen brighten when shining a light at it?

I tested the alarm telltale - it definitely plays a role in controlling the SatNav screen brightness. However, I still think the screen looks dim at night or in low light (even when the adjustable brightness is moved all the way up). Anyone else with a 2007 model with SatNav that can comment on their screen brightness in low light?

Can't comment on the 3 2007 Satnav ...but I had a LR2 recently and could hardly see the screen during the daytime 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Mark,
I have a 2007 and for daylight driving I have the brightness set mid way. However, at night, particularly when I'm away from street lighting, I have to drop it right down to it's lowest setting otherwise it's just too bright.

OK, so it sounds like my 2007 is acting strange with regard to the screen being too dim at night. Anyone with advice about approaching the dealership?
In other words, does this sound like a sensor problem or a screen problem (the screen definitely gets bright when I shine a flashlight on the sensor)? If the dealership suggests replacing the screen, is that an undertaking that has the potential to tear up my dashboard?

Replacing the screen is an easy 10min job, there's only 4 clips, 4 screws and a few connectors involved
Replacing the sensor would be more complicated The End
