The LR sat nav is an expensive POS really. I didn't order one but I believe the hard drive is still there. I am sure there must be a way to hack it and install an after market one. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Maybe it just the South African map database but my cheap Garmin knocks the socks off it. .... Having a non-integrated GPS unit bugs me, and particularly having a projectile come at my head shuld the airbags ever deploy is a worry.
What I want is to be able to input an external GPS source into OEM screen and then use programmable mapping software like OziExplorer or Hema Navigator and Hema Maps.
Has anyone found something to do that?

I did not have time to look at it properly but check post #117 - looks like there is a way to get SATNAV on the move enabled. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/87155-Overland-Journal-Project-Land-Rover-Discovery-4-(LR4)/page12
