OK so I'm willing to be laughed at, ridiculed, whatever, in order to find an answer to probably something so obvious only I could miss it....
How do you control the volume of the sat nav directions?! (On a 2011 D4 HSE)
Coming from a Q7 I expected it to work in a similar fashion - when the sat nav voice is on, use the volume buttons on the steering column - this works but only for that time - next time it comes on I get shouted at again!
I've tried setting the source memory, I've tried the tone button then selecting the sat nav button on the bottom right of the screen and adjusting it. I've tried the volume control on the centre console and the one on the steering column.
Please help!
As an aside - when a traffic announcement comes on, is there a way to turn it off and keep to the source that was selected when it came on? Pressing the source button (think that's what it's called? The left centre button on the steering wheel) on the steering column seems to work, but sometimes (not every time) it changes the source too.
Really hope someone can help
Paul.

Hold down the audio settings button (from memory it has a musical note on the button? on the left hand side of the main power/volume knob) for a few seconds, you'll go into an "extended" audio settings menu, one of the options is the sat nav volume. It's an offset from the current radio volume.

The best solution is to push the audio off button for satnav.
My 2010 LRs (3!) never learned to speak with the right volume.

Unfortunately, the Sat-Nav volume (offset from radio volume) still only adjusts upwards, ie. + and not - !!!
Can't believe they didn't fix this on the D4 as most people want the Sat Nav to be quieter than the other sources.
With regard to cancelling the traffic announcements, just hit the info button once quickly.

Want to share how you managed that amazing?
The traffic announcement thing is still annoying, would be nice if you could cancel the current one with a button on the steering wheel - the source button does do it but sometimes also changes the source which then means you have to cycle through the sources to get back to your original!

I hold the music note button down and one of the options is nav volume mine was really loud originally but now its just a whisper It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.

That sounds the same as the European version?
Are you sure the Nav Offset Volume option adjusts below 0?
In what ways is the Chinese system totally different, does it look like this?

hi the system looks like that screen but is a stand alone add on. you cant access it from the screen it just shows not available you must use the button. also on exit you get a screen with the tv option on it. also of you use "secret code" to try to see video feeds it shows not fitted. so its plumbed in quite differently.
and its crap...maps sooo limited and sends you wacky routes.it does tell you speed camera location and calls out when you are within 100 m.
even the engineers were embarassed about it when i met them. it also screwed the compass( that suprised the engineers so much for testing) and no offroad feature which sucks as most places i go are off the map. It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.
