Sat nav rear connectors / fakra smb plugs

Has any body managed to locate a source for the 3 plugs that fit into the back of the sat nav unit allowing input of tv/dvd / reversing cam / companion cam?

These

I would rather use the plugs than risk my unsteady hand with a soldering iron.

Woodman is probably your best bet, or grommet. Not sure either post here anymore. Grommet is from the US and Woodman from the UK

The inside bit is the SMB part .Basically a small coax connecter (these can be purchased quite easily). Its the outer housing thats the problem (fakra). They are only used in the automotive industry.

I have checked all the usual ones ..RS , MAPLINS etc.

Click on the link:

And there's a sales contact tab. I'm sure its commercial, but they may point you to someone who can help.

If you have to order a minimum, and it helps out cost wise, I'm happy to take a few off your hands. Let me know.

Just waiting for a reply from someone else...

Problem with these connectors is that its mostly commercial companys selling them on to automotive companys..they don't wanna know if i just want a handfull for private use.

Bump!

Wiggs?

Did you get any look with the connectors?

Probably having some Rear screens installed so it would be nice while not driving (of course!) to display on the front screen.

Don't know if this is repeat information (my apologies if it is) but this page looks interesting:
http://www.amphenolrf.com/products/fakrasmb.asp

Note from Wiggs original picture, that each of these has a different 'key' to prevent misconnection. Look at the letter I, F and E at the top left of each socket on the board; these seem to match the key codes under the 'Single Plugs' section of the amphenol site...or is it a socket; not a single high-res picture front on to tell which way is which. Confused

http://uk.digikey.com do them, their catalogue page for them is http://dkc3.digikey.com/PDF/UK061/0162.pdf

If there's a big interest it might be worth buying £100 worth (to save the postage and handling charges) and then selling the remaining stock through the D3 shop Very Happy

Code Z does indeed look like a winner! Figures that the digikey site has better info than the manaufactures site Smile
I'll register my interest in 5 plugs towards a bulk buy...
