I may ask Santa for a Tom Tom for Xmas.
A couple of questions...
Which model is that? and
How (if at all) are you fixing it in place? or is it just resting there?

tom tom go 300, the other versions also give blue tooth phone handsfree option.
Land rover must of made the gap to the exact size it fits perfect.
Mine has installed (see ebay many sellers) ALL UK camera, Gatso etc and even red light warnings, and I have many different voices loaded, to make long trips more interesting.
Also includes maps of Europe
I have the night vue mode on mot of the time as it is all in green which ties up with the dash etc.
I hope santa brings you one as it is one of the best presents you will get

Yup, the just load up as POI's, TomTom 5 has got a new in-built feature over 3, which is to warn you of them too
I've even got a voice pack installed (which replaces the Moo , chime etc noises) with "GATSO ahead, speed limit 30 miles per hour" etc 8)06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Tomtom Sat Nav power supply
I fitted my Tom tom sat nav in the same spot but didn't like the charger being connected in to the cigar lighter all the time. The fuse box is behind the glove box but I didn't want to break into the wiring for fear of warrentee problems and, quite frankly, connecting to the wrong wire. I found a great little device which replaces one of the fuses but gives a fused 12v power supply on a lead. The device is called TAPA-CIRCUIT and I could only findit in the states on a website gadgets and gizmos

From this I connected a female 12v connector (size of cigar lighter) for the tomtom power supply - this is supplied by Maplin.
It results in a very tidy installation.

I too have found that the shelf in my lowly S is ideal for the TomTom but it does not pick up the satellites as well as the area where the gps ariel is located is now covered by the plastic dash.
Have you guys had this problem?

Tomtom running on my PDA with built in satellite receiver works OK albeit a little slow on finding the satellites initially and this is with the receiver right under the dash. I fitted the optional external antenna and surprisingly this made no difference. So quite happy with it on this 'purpose made' shelf.
