Sat Nav and Memory Map

If I get one of these - http://item.express.ebay.co.uk/GLOBALSAT-B...xpressItem

will it work with Memory Map, or is additional software required? Confused

Check the spec of Memory Map to see if supports USB receivers (my copy of 2004 doesn't, 5 might) or if a serial port emulator comes with the receiver itself Smile

Also, seems a bit expensive to me, although I've not checked the spec thoroughly Embarassed

yep, as long as you get the drivers with it (or can download from the manufacturers site), you'll probably want a USB extension cable as well

had a demo version of MM, worked fine with a USB receiver

Of course you could always use Fugawi 8) which has support for USB, serial, Garmin etc. etc. as standard Razz

Thumbs Up Thanks, guys. Already got MM V5. I'll check it out to see what it supports. The USB receiver was just one picked at random to ask the question - I'll do more searching now I know it's ok to use.

Ahh, that's the difference, MM will work underwater whereas Fugawi is surface / land based only

All USB GPSs and serial/USB adaptor cables require diver software

All USB devices require driver support - some is included as part of Windoze, most isn't. It's only the IRQ allocation that causes confusion....
BTW - Top tip Idea always plug your USB GPS receiver into the same USB port, otherwise you'll have to reallocate the virtual COM port all over again each time you use it Idea

Got the same problem with my camera Rolling Eyes Asks for driver to be reinstalled if I use a different port.

Still, Memory Map should be good for the fords then! Very Happy
