Santander to Almeria.
Getting of the boat in Santander in mid March at 12 noon with a large trailer and wondered if anyone has any idea on a nice safe hotel to stop on route, looking to drive till about 6pm, should average a good 60mph.
Need a safe place as we have quite valuable kit on board and don't mind the cost tooooooooooooo much but like a good nights sleep.
Don't want to get tied up in Madrid with traffic.
Long shot but you never know.
Many thanks.
Sorry for cross post, but I would like some help on this one.

Andy, just a thought, you could check on the larger towns on route and contact the local police, they might let you store it overnight. Worked for me once On a mission to find the perfect Pork Pie. Just Found it (I think)..(Yes I have)

We stopped at overnight service areas between Burgos & Madrid and another between Madrid & Murcia.
Both were just off the main road and were nice hotel accomodation with the car parking area covered in CCTV
Lots of truckers used them too, can't remember the exact locations but they seemed to be fairly common.
We were on a bike so were particularly wary of overnight parking.
HTH A common mistake made when trying to come up with a totally foolproof design is to completely underestimate the innate ingenuity of fools.

Hi Andy,
About 3 years ago I spent a few days in Toledo.
It's a gorgeous medioeval town just south of Madrid. No need to enter the capital, just go around the ring road and you're there.
The hotel was the Hesperia Toledo
http://www.hesperia.es/nh/es/hoteles/espan...oledo.html
It was one of the nicest 4 stars I've ever stayed at. Plenty of parking, although (if I remember well) it was outside parking, not covered.
Prices were not too bad, it's almost perfectly half way through and if you have a couple of hours to spare the town centers is very picturesque (think York...bit more Spanish though).
Hope it helps,
Mauro

....bit more info Andy....
I was looking at their web site and they advertise a proper parking.......with a ROOF!!!
So I gave them a quick call.
Since I've been there, they removed the outdoor car park and now have a car park beside the hotel.
13 euros a night with security cameras and it's locked during the night.
Sounds pretty good to be honest.

Just a thought, as to places to say, i sleep in the Disco in a moterway station, tuck into next to HGV's try and find a UK Dutch belguim german etc, make sure you have a very good chain and lock from either the eye hook or hopefully the fixed towbar, take a good coolbox with you and poss a stove with beans, big soup etc. I tow boats that way alot, more to portugual but some to the east coast. Best plan two up swicth drivers, one stays with the rig whilist the other goes to the loo etc.
Trust noone apart from Uk Truckers
